Tyler always knew he was meant to be a songwriter.

“A lifelong love of The Beatles and Motown instilled by my parents and an inexplicable urge to create music from the age of five illuminated my path fairly early on. Growing up I never much enjoyed or related to contemporary music which pushed me to further explore the roots of the music I did love: Rock and Roll, Rhythm and Blues and Folk. Following High School I attended The University of Alabama where I studied classical guitar performance; classical music had a profound influence on my songwriting then and continues to be a great source of inspiration to me. I shortly thereafter relocated to Los Angeles where I fell into a pattern of vacillating between focus on my own songwriting and taking a backseat in different musical projects or bands. Although, I was lucky enough to find a great producer (Joel Jerome) who helped me to fulfill the vision I had for my first two full length albums. I learned so much in that time but had concluded before my recent move to Nashville that I am happiest pursuing my own development as a songwriter; though I do love to collaborate and continue to do so. Now my priority is to get out and perform my songs as often as possible and to continue recording the backlog of songs I have accumulated in a way that both does them justice sonically and brings them to life.”

A believer in digging into the roots of the timeless music we love most, Tyler acknowledges his greatest influences.

“I could listen to The Band, The Moody Blues or The Beatles all day and often do. I really am floored by the way these bands and many others of that distant era pushed themselves creatively and their ability to reinvent themselves and shed their skin so readily is admirable. I have absorbed that allergy to being stagnant artistically and hope to always push myself to grow and evolve as well. I admittedly wear these influences on my sleeve, especially on my earliest compositions and recordings, but the most rewarding thing so far in my musical journey has been hearing my own voice emerge and my sound transmogrify over time into something very much my own”

Tyler is passionate about what he wants to embody in his music.

“I am less and less interested in musical proficiency and technicality that is found so commonly today and increasingly interested in developing my individual voice and storytelling abilities both musically and lyrically. I look forward to a time when people expect that from artists again”
